Lemon Can be used in Many Different Ways
Pick organic lemons if you can, mostly if you plan to use the peels. They should be bright and firm with a fine grained skin. A very course exterior may indicate a thick skin, which may mean less juicy flesh. Large lemons tend to be thick skinned. Size doesn’t mean more juice. A lemon that feels heavy for its smaller size usually means more juice which is what you are aiming for.
Ways to Squeeze Every Drop From A Lemon
I use my lemon peels to boil in my teakettle – bring to a boil and let it sit for an hour (or longer) to dissolve the brown stuff that often builds up on the bottom. If I have let it go for a while I sometimes have to do a little scrubbing (with the peel) but then I know my kettle is clean and ready for some serious tea drinking!
This is just one of countless ways to utilize lemon as an effective cleaner.
